ITINERARY: 7-day 6-night tour from Tanger to Marrakesh through the desert.
Day 1: TANGIER – TETOUEN – BLUE CITY
On the first day of the desert tour from Tangier to Marrakech via Desert, we will depart from the Airport, Port, or Hotel in Tangier and head to Chefchaouen. This town was founded as a secret, mysterious place from which to attack the Portuguese, who were installed on the north coast. Europeans were banned entirely from entering the village until the arrival of the Spanish troops in 1920. Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, we will have the afternoon to explore the city and have our first contact with it. We will spend the night at the hotel.
Day 2: CHEFCHAOUEN – VOLUBILIS – FES
The day begins with the fresh breeze of Chefchaouen, a city known for its blue-washed buildings. Afterward, we will visit the archaeological ruins of Volubilis. These ruins are a remarkable representation of the various civilizations that have shaped Morocco’s history and continue to influence the country’s cultural traditions. It’s an ideal place to take a leisurely stroll and immerse yourself in its beauty and history. Our next destination is the imperial city of Meknes, once the home of the Moroccan sultanate under Moulay Ismail’s rule. You will have the opportunity to explore this historically significant city and be enchanted by its allure.
Day 3: FES TOUR – IFRANE – MIDELT
The morning starts with Chefchaouen’s fresh breezeworld’s most complete medieval Islamic cities. Our journey takes us to the archaeological ruins of Volubilis, an outstanding example of different civilizations in Morocco. Then, we visit the imperial city of Meknes, once the home of the Moroccan sultanate Moulay Ismail. Finally, we arrive at the ancient city of Fes, the cultural capital of Morocco, one of the most complete medieval Islamic cities in the world. Your adventure for today ends at your hotel or riad.
Day 4: MIDELT – ATLAS MOUNTAINS – MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast, we will depart from Midelt and drive through the Middle Atlas mountains. We will pass through the Zad pass (2,178m) and, in the afternoon, continue our journey to Erfoud via Errachidia and the Ziz Valley. Following that, we will head to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, we will have lunch at a Berber pizza restaurant and then take a camel ride to the camp. Before that, we will visit the Sahara Nomads. Finally, we will have dinner and spend the night at the Desert Camp
Day 5: MERZOUGA DESERT – RISSANI – TODRA GORGES – OUARZAZATE
Today, we will depart for Ouarzazate via Rissani, the origin of the Alawi dynasty, the souk, and numerous Kasbahs. Then, we will travel to TODRA GORGES for lunch and continue through the beautiful valley of DADES. In the evening, we will arrive in Ouarzazate, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and rest overnight in the Riad.
Day 6: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH
Before heading to Marrakech, we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah, Cinema Atlas Studio, and the old Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This is where many famous Hollywood movies such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia have been filmed. We will return to Marrakech via the High Atlas.
Day 7: MARRAKECH AIRPORT
Breakfast and transfer to the airport or a Marrakech sightseeing tour, depending on your departure time. This marks the end of our desert tour from Tangier to Marrakech.
