DAY 2: EXPLORING MARRAKECH GUIDED TOUR
During this day of the TOUR OF MARRAKECH, we are going to explore the red city of Marrakech. We will have a guided tour that will take us to the most important monuments of the city; places that have a great historical and cultural value. The list includes Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef’s Koranic School, Medina and Souks. After lunch at a traditional restaurant in the famous Jamaa Lafna square, we’ll visit the Koutoubia mosque and the fascinating Majorelle gardens. These gardens house an amazing collection of plants from all over the world. At the end of the day, we will have an overnight stay in a traditional riad.
After breakfast early in the morning, we will depart from the red city of Marrakech and travel through the amazing landscapes of the Atlas Mountains and many Berber villages where people live a very simple lifestyle. Our first stop will be at the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, which is also a famous filming location for many Hollywood movies. After lunch, we will be on our way to Ouarzazate for a visit to the Taourirt kasbah. Then we will go to the Dades valley through the road of the thousand kasbahs. We will visit Kalaat Mgouna, the city of roses. In Dades, we will spend the night in a hotel with a beautiful view.
After breakfast in the Dades valley, we will leave it and go to the Toudgha gorges. These gorges have the largest canyons in Morocco and a beautiful river where small fish swim. Then we will pass by Tinghir to Erfoud, where we will have a traditional lunch. Our next stop will be Merzouga for an overnight stay in one of the most chic desert hotels.
After having breakfast and showering at the hotel, we will drive through the desert to see what it has to offer. We will drive in our 4×4 car and we will pass by the small villages. After lunch at the home of a Berber family, we will drive along the road used by the Dakar rally and have a stop at a cave where we can find fossils. Then we will go back to the hotel in Merzouga for a rest. After a rest and leaving the unnecessary luggage at the hotel, we will ride the camels to the dunes of Erg Chebbi where a camp is located. We will have dinner at the camp. We will listen to the trance-inducing drum beats of the nomadic musicians under the clear constellations of the stars of the Milky Way.
We leave the desert after our breakfast. We will cross the Tafilal region and the Atlas mountains on our TOUR FROM MARRAKECH. After a short stop for lunch in the apple town of Midelt, we will visit the monkeys of the cedar forest near Azrou. We will make another stop in Ifran.
