Itinerary overview :

After we leave Tangier, we go on a 13-day trip around the imperial cities of Morocco. We travel across the desert to Chefchaouen, then go south to visit Fez and Meknes. After that, we go to the desert again and visit Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou. Then it’s on to Marrakech and Essaouira. Finally, we drive across the coastal road, visiting Casablanca, Rabat, and Assilah on the way back to Tangier.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO TANGIER TRANSFER TO YOUR HOTEL

DAY 2: TANGIER – CHEFCHAOUEN BLUE CITY

After breakfast, we will drive to the beautiful city of Tetouan. During the drive, we will occasionally take in the breathtaking landscapes of the Jbala region of Morocco. Our final destination will be the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. Once we arrive, we will have lunch and then embark on a journey to explore the Medina, including its bustling markets and famous square. After the exploration, we will spend the night at a comfortable hotel.

DAY 3: CHEFCHAOUEN – OUAZZAN – VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FEZ

We will go out after breakfast to explore the Chefchaouen on a guided tour. We will visit the Medina and the markets along with visiting some cool streets to take memorable photos between the blue walls. Afterward, we will go to Meknes, one of the imperial cities that was the great capital of the Moroccan Kingdom during the 17th century. At Meknes, we will explore the main landmarks of the Medina and the area around it, places like Bab Mansour and Lahdim Square. We will leave Meknes soon after we explore it and drive towards the holy city of Moulay Driss and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. And finally, we will stop at Fez for an overnight stay at a Riad.

DAY 4: FES SIGHTSEEING GUIDED TOUR

This day of the MOROCCO IMPERIAL CITIES TOUR will be dedicated to exploring the spiritual capital of Morocco Fez. After breakfast, we will start our guided tour in the Medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will start by visiting the landmarks of Fez Elbali, places like the Al Qaraouine University, the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, the Nejjarine Fountain, and so on. Then, we will have a traditional lunch in the Medina before we explore more of Fez. We will go back to the Riad.

DAY 5: FES – IFRANE – MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA DESERT

After breakfast in the early morning, the 13 DAYS MOROCCO IMPERIAL CITIES TOUR will take us to the south on a long journey through the diversity of Morocco’s landscapes. On our way, we will visit Ifran (dubbed the Switzerland of Morocco) and the cedar forest near Azrou; we will meet the Barbary monkeys there. After that, we will stop at the city of Apple’s Midelt for lunch. Then, we will drive through the high road of Tizi n’Taghamt and the fantastic landscapes of Ziz Valley. We will continue our trip, passing by the town of Fossils Erfoud before we arrive at Merzouga. We will spend the night at one of the fancy hotels in Merzouga.

DAY 6: MERZOUGA – ERG CHEBBI DUNES – MERZOUGA

After eating breakfast and showering at the hotel, we will have a ride through the desert to explore its many aspects. We will ride our 4×4 car, passing by small villages like Khamlia, which is a village that has Gnawa, a culture that is centered around Gnawa music. After eating lunch with a Berber family, and visiting the holy town of the Moroccan Royal family Rissani, we will drive through the road of the rally of Dakar uses and stop at a cave where we can find fossils. Then, we will return to the hotel at Merzouga. After taking some rest and leaving our unnecessary luggage at the hotel, we will ride the camels to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where a camp is situated. At the camp, we will have dinner while listening to the trance-inducing drumbeats of the nomad musicians under the clear constellations of the stars of the Milky Way.

DAY 7: MERZOUGA – ERFOUD – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY

We usually wake up early this day to see the sunrise before leaving the camp. At Merzouga, we will enjoy a relaxing shower and a delicious breakfast. Then, we will go to the Oasis of Tinghir, near Toudra G orges, before we pay a quick visit to the town of fossils Erfoud. We will visit the amazing gorges of Toudra, where we will walk across the river and the narrow walls of rock before stopping at a local restaurant for lunch. Afterward, we will head to Dades Valley, a fantastic place for photos. We will spend the night at Dades in a nice hotel.

DAY 8: DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – ATLAS MOUNTAINS – MARRAKECH

Today, we will take the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through Kelaat Mgouna and the Valley of Roses. Our first stop will be at Skoura Oasis, followed by a visit to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Here, we will explore Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, famous filming sites known worldwide. After lunch, we will drive across the scenic landscapes of Tizi n’Tichka towards Marrakech, where we will stay at a traditional Riad.

DAY 9: MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING GUIDED TOUR

After breakfast at the Riad, we will go out on a guided tour through the landmarks of Marrakech. The list includes the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the Koranic School of Ben Youssef… After lunch at a traditional restaurant that looks at the famous Jamaa Elfna Square, which is a place that has a fascinating culture of storytellers, snake charmers, and street artists… We will visit more amazing landmarks of the Red City afterward, like The Majorelle Gardens, Menara, and Koutoubia Mosque… we will return after that to the Riad.

DAY 10: MARRAKECH – CHICHAOUA – ESSAOUIRA

After breakfast, we will drive through the beautiful landscapes of Argan trees and head towards the coast. Once we reach Essaouira, we will begin our tour by visiting the fishing port, the ancient citadel of Skala Kasbah, and the galleries and souvenir shops around the Medina. We will then have lunch at a lovely seafood restaurant that offers a breathtaking view. Finally, after exploring the Medina, we will head to our hotel.

DAY 11: ESSAOUIRA – OUNAGHA – CASABLANCA

On this day of our 13-day Morocco imperial cities tour from Tangier via desert, we will leave Essaouira. We will visit important places like Chichaoua, famous for argan production. Then, we will arrive at Casablanca and visit the fascinating Hassan II mosque, one of the best works of Moroccan architecture. After that, we will visit La Corniche and Ain Diab to enjoy walking at the seaside. Then, we will head to the hotel.

DAY 12: CASABLANCA – RABAT – ASSILAH – TANGIER

After having breakfast, we will head to Rabat where we plan to visit the city’s famous landmarks such as the Hassan Tower Mosque, the Oudaya Kasbah, and the Mohamed V Mausoleum. From there, we will take a scenic coastal road to Assilah, a city greatly influenced by Spanish style and architecture. Later, we will continue our journey to Tangier, where we will stop at a hotel for the night.
