- Visiting Ouad Jenna and Laglatt
- Camel Trekking
- Spending the night in the desert camp
- Exploring Dakhla desert
This is an adventurous 3-day/2-night itinerary that takes you through diverse desert landscapes, exposing you to various habitats and terrains. The itinerary involves spending three full days in the desert and two nights camping out under the stars. You’ll also have good opportunities to spot desert animals during the trip, and depending on the conditions, you may take a detour to the White Dune at the end of the tour.
Day 1
Our day will be pretty long, with a considerable amount of driving. However, the initial stretch will be on smooth tarmac, and we’ll pass through various landscapes. Our destination is Oued Jenna, a savannah-like habitat with beautiful rocky outcrops in the background. It’s famous for birding and other nature observations. We’ll stop here for lunch and then embark on an easy trek to discover semi-permanent water pools at Laglatt. After lunch, we’ll drive across the oued and a vast plateau. We’ll pitch our camp on flat ground and enjoy the first night in the desert.
Day 2
Today is going to be another long day spent entirely off-roading. We will begin with a good breakfast before exploring various habitats and terrains, including savannahs, rocky mountains, dry river beds with bush areas, plateaus, and a massive sebkha with a shining bottom. After lunch, we will continue our journey into the dunes, have dinner, and spend the night at our bivouac.
Day 3
After enjoying a good breakfast, we will go towards the coast. We will drive at a low pace between the dunes, stopping for some dune running and enjoying the stunning panoramic views. Next, we’ll drive uphill across small canyons until we reach an area with wells and possibly camel herders. Here, we’ll take a break for lunch before continuing to the coastal road. Depending on your plans, we can either drive to Dakhla (where we may have time to visit the White Dune before sunset) or head back to the north of Morocco.
