After we leave Tangier, we go on a 13-day trip around the imperial cities of Morocco. We travel across the desert to Chefchaouen, then go south to visit Fez and Meknes. After that, we go to the desert again and visit Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou. Then it’s on to Marrakech and Essaouira. Finally, we drive across the coastal road, visiting Casablanca, Rabat, and Assilah on the way back to Tangier.
After we meet, we will take you to the hotel. Then, you’ll have a free day to explore Tangier however you want. Our 13-DAY MOROCCO IMPERIAL CITIES TOUR FROM TANGIER TO MARRAKECH VIA MERZOUGA DESERT will start the next day!
After breakfast, we will drive to the beautiful city of Tetouan. During the drive, we will occasionally take in the breathtaking landscapes of the Jbala region of Morocco. Our final destination will be the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. Once we arrive, we will have lunch and then embark on a journey to explore the Medina, including its bustling markets and famous square. After the exploration, we will spend the night at a comfortable hotel.
We will go out after breakfast to explore the Chefchaouen on a guided tour. We will visit the Medina and the markets along with visiting some cool streets to take memorable photos between the blue walls. Afterward, we will go to Meknes, one of the imperial cities that was the great capital of the Moroccan Kingdom during the 17th century. At Meknes, we will explore the main landmarks of the Medina and the area around it, places like Bab Mansour and Lahdim Square. We will leave Meknes soon after we explore it and drive towards the holy city of Moulay Driss and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. And finally, we will stop at Fez for an overnight stay at a Riad.
This day of the MOROCCO IMPERIAL CITIES TOUR will be dedicated to exploring the spiritual capital of Morocco Fez. After breakfast, we will start our guided tour in the Medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will start by visiting the landmarks of Fez Elbali, places like the Al Qaraouine University, the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, the Nejjarine Fountain, and so on. Then, we will have a traditional lunch in the Medina before we explore more of Fez. We will go back to the Riad.
We usually wake up early this day to see the sunrise before leaving the camp. At Merzouga, we will enjoy a relaxing shower and a delicious breakfast. Then, we will go to the Oasis of Tinghir, near Toudra Gorges, before we pay a quick visit to the town of fossils Erfoud. We will visit the amazing gorges of Toudra, where we will walk across the river and the narrow walls of rock before stopping at a local restaurant for lunch. Afterward, we will head to Dades Valley, a fantastic place for photos. We will spend the night at Dades in a nice hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive through the beautiful landscapes of Argan trees and head towards the coast. Once we reach Essaouira, we will begin our tour by visiting the fishing port, the ancient citadel of Skala Kasbah, and the galleries and souvenir shops around the Medina. We will then have lunch at a lovely seafood restaurant that offers a breathtaking view. Finally, after exploring the Medina, we will head to our hotel.
