After having breakfast and loading the camels, we begin our hike by crossing the Oum Laachar pass. We will then proceed along a dry river and come across a secluded oasis nestled between the mountains. Our trek will continue with some short climbs and descents until we finally reach our campsite situated on the riverbank of Oued Mhasser. The entire journey should take approximately five hours.
Today, we will start our Morocco Sahara Desert Trekking Tour 7 Days by walking along the Oued Mhasser River and crossing a pebbly desert. If the weather is clear, we can witness the magnificent dunes of Chegaga, which will appear even more impressive as we get closer to them. We will join our team in the camp on a plateau and relish an amazing sunset over the dunes. As the stars start twinkling, we will unwind in the traditional tents and savor a mouth-watering meal around the campfire. The duration of the journey is approximately 5 hours.
If you wake up early, you can enjoy a breathtaking sunrise on the dunes. After breakfast, we continue our trek and cross a dry lake and rocky desert to reach Oued Laatach, which is also known as the “river of thirst.” Along the way, we will see nomad camps with their flocks of goats. Next, we cross another rocky desert to reach our campsite near the dunes of Bougarne. Although these dunes are smaller than those of Chegaga, they still provide panoramic views across the landscape. We will watch the sunset from here before retreating to our campsite. The entire trek takes about 5 hours of walking.
Today, the Morocco Sahara Desert Trekking Tour 7 Days starts on a rocky desert plateau, which gives the landscape a mineral edge. We will have to walk for a long time to reach our campsite next to the famous well of Oued Naam, where we can refresh ourselves. However, we must be careful not to waste water, as it is a fragile resource. The walk to the campsite will take about 5 hours.
We leave very early as we have a long drive back to Marrakech. We cross a plateau of small dunes and then a forest of tamaris. Around midday, we reach the village of Mhamid, the last village before the vast Sahara. We say goodbye to our team of camel drivers and drive back to Marrakech via Zagora and Ouarzazate, where we spend the night before our departure the following day. It is approximately a four-hour walk.
